aqua square PHAME Academy is dedicated to enriching the lives of developmentally challenged citizens of all ages through participation in performing and fine arts. Drama, music, art, writing and other creative expressions offer new endeavors for the students. They also prove to have a positive impact on self-esteem, social and communication skills and physical ability. Phame also provides a place to meet new friends. We are a non-profit organization providing fine and performing art opportunities to people with special needs. Age group is all-inclusive; race, creed and color is not a question.
red square PHAME Academy is currently operating at 4837 N. E. Couch Street in Portland. PHAME's administrative offices are off site at 1640 N. W. 19th, Portland 97209. What PHAME would eventually like is a permanent facility large enough to pull all elements together in one; storage for costumes and props, classrooms, performance space and administrative offices. The students simply want a place where all people with special needs can go and realize their artistic dreams in a supportive atmosphere.

blue square PHAME Academy enrollment has increased as space permits. For the past eleven years students have been taking courses in dance, art, chorus, drama, writing, voice and piano. Courses run throughout the year during three 10 week terms. Classes are held in the afternoons and evenings and range from one to four hours or more per week. Carol Stady, Director and Michael Ashton, Assistant Director, are fully experienced in both theatre and in working with the special population.
