PHAME Academy is proud to announce “In This Together” – an extraordinary new feature-length documentary film in the works that will inspire and delight the Portland metro community – a new documentary about PHAME, and its inspiring student artists and performers, produced in collaboration with Portland’s own Runaway Mustache Productions. “In This Together” will enjoy a special VIP screening on Wednesday, August 1st, 7 pm at Portland’s Hollywood Theatre – tickets are on sale online here.

“The right to art is the most sacred of the human rights.”

Twelve performances. Ten cities. Eight days. Forty-seven adult artists and performers with developmental disabilities. We called it “PHAME: the H is for Honored Tour.”

The inspired artists and performers from PHAME take center stage in this heart-filled new documentary from Portland, Oregon’s own Runaway Mustache Productions – “In This Together.”

Along “PHAME: the H is for Honored Tour” – March 14 to 22, 2012 -  a group of artists and performers from PHAME – the Portland, Oregon community’s fine and performing arts group for adults with developmental disabilities – visited communities across the metro region, showcasing their remarkable talent and tenacity; their hard work and heart; their imagination and creativity and possibility to audiences in Portland, Hillsboro, Milwaukie, Estacada and Beaverton, Oregon, as well as Vancouver, Washington.

“We are absolutely delighted to be collaborating on this feature length documentary film about PHAME with the incredible vision and talent of Alex Huebsch, Marc Friedman and everyone at Runaway Mustache Productions,” says PHAME Executive Director Stephen Marc Beaudoin. “‘In This Together’ asks us to look freshly at what it means to be an artist, and to look more deeply at the very definition of art itself. We can’t wait to present this to a select VIP screening audience on August 1st at Portland’s Hollywood Theatre, and to see where it takes off from there!”

Through the compelling personal stories of PHAME’s inspiring student artists and performers of “In This Together” – students like poet and playwright Chrystal Figueroa, or conductor Edward Elder, or writer and actress Brenda Bargmann – you’ll be challenged, delighted and inspired by some remarkable artists and performers.
