PHAME: the H is for Honored Tour, March 14-22, 2012
Frequently Asked Questions

What is PHAME: the H is for Honored Tour?
It is a four-county Portland metropolitan regional tour targeting tri-county Portland metro area plus the Vancouver metro area: Clackamas, Clark, Multnomah and Washington Counties. Over 8 days, PHAME will tour to more than a dozen communities in the four-county region, reaching over 3,000 audience members at community centers, high schools, arts venues, and other sites.

Why is PHAME visiting these communities?
PHAME wants to help change hearts and minds across Portland by showcasing the incredible talent of our student artists and performers, and showing that persons with developmental disabilities are creative, expressive, vital members of our community. PHAME seeks both venues to host performances/showcases along the Tour as well as community partners to attend these showcases and help get the word out to their communities about this major Tour event.

Who is performing on the tour? Is it just the Choir?
The tour will represent all of the arts opportunities that PHAME offers, not just music. Performances in theatre, music, and dance will accompany readings from creative writing and a traveling art display.

Do I have to be registered for PHAME Winter Term classes to participate in the tour?
Yes. Our programming will be developed in the classroom, so you must be registered for at least one class to participate.

How much does it cost to participate in the tour?
There is a $25 charge for all students who wish to participate in the tour. This tuition will help defray the costs of tour t-shirts, food, staff time, tour buses, etc.

Can I get tuition assistance for the tour if I need it?
Of course!

If I sign up for the tour, do I have to come every day?
No. When you register, you will choose a “track” to let us know if you want to be considered for every day of the tour or just the big performances.

Some of those tour days are pretty long. What will the students do between performances?
We will have plenty of rest time and planned activities like sightseeing, lunch, etc.

PHAME is renting tour buses for the tour. Are the buses fully accessible?
Yes! We want all of the PHAME students to arrive and depart together for performances, so accessible buses are a must!

Who can ride on the bus? Can my family come along?
The tour buses will only be for PHAME students, teachers/staff, volunteers, and individual care providers as needed. Families who wish to attend performances during the tour will need to arrange their own transportation.

Do all PHAME students have to ride the tour bus, or can I just meet you at the venue?
All students scheduled to perform must ride the tour bus. We will all leave together from Grace Memorial at the beginning of the tour day and return together at the end of the tour day. If you miss the bus, you will have to miss the day’s performance.

How much are tickets to the PHAME tour performances?
All of our community performances are FREE! Tickets to the Aladdin Theater show will be $10-$15.

Do I need to bring food?
No. PHAME will provide food and drinks on most days of the tour – especially the very long days. We will do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions. If your diet is highly restricted, it is suggested that you bring your own food.
