PHAME’s Winter 2012 term runs Monday, January 9th through Tuesday, March 13th. As PHAME will be preparing for our “PHAME: the H is for Honored Tour” in March 2012, this winter 2012 term will not include an end of term recital, but will dovetail directly into the start of our tour!

PHAME Winter 2012 Term Classes
Directing
Learn the basics of directing a play in this informative class. Explore stage directions, working with actors, scene analysis, and more! Beginners and more experienced students are welcome!

Theatre Arts
Learn to create a story onstage through acting exercises, games, character development, and other techniques. We’ll start each day with a large group warm-up before splitting off into three smaller classes. Monday AND Wednesday, OR Wednesday ONLY 4:00pm – 5:30pm

Dance
Learn the fundamentals of movement through a variety of dance styles! Jazz, hip-hop, ballet, modern…the possibilities are endless. Space is limited, so sign up early!

Mixed Vocal Ensemble
Study, rehearse, and perform vocal music in a smaller group setting.

Visual Art
Students will explore a variety of mediums and styles of visual art, both two and three dimensional. Paint, draw, sculpt, collage, collaborate, and create!

Creative Writing I – Fun With Words
Creative Writing I is geared toward beginners and students with more basic writing skills. Play word games, learn the art of storytelling, and write both on your own and as a group.

Creative Writing II – Deepen Your Writing
Creative Writing II is geared toward more advanced students who already have pieces of writing they’d like to develop. If you’ve taken Creative Writing before and are looking to deepen your writing skills, this class is for you. Students will have a combination of free writing and one-on-one time with the instructor. PHAME Choir
PHAME’s largest and most publicly visible class, the Choir welcomes anyone who enjoys singing in a group regardless of skill level. Choir members will have several opportunities for public performance throughout the year, at venues such as the Grotto and the Aladdin Theater.

Fundamentals of Music
Learn the fundamentals of music making through music appreciation, games, theory, and group exercises. *please note the time change for Winter 2012*

Learn to translate your music and lyric ideas into fully formed songs! Individual and group songwriting will be explored.

*NEW CLASS!* Vocal and Instrumental Combo
This class is a creative forum for students to explore sound and rhythm by combining song, instrumental pieces, and more. Students will make use of hand drums, glockenspiel, voices, electronic music…the sky’s the limit! This perform- ance-based class, designed to develop pieces for showcasing to the public, will incorporate music from multiple genres as well as original student material.

Advanced Acting
This class is geared toward PHAME student actors who are interested in a more intensive and challenging experience, and opportunities for public performance outside of the annual musical production. This might include learning more advanced acting techniques, improving memorization skills, reading scripts, creating original theatre pieces, and more. Registration is by instructor permission only. Register for $150 or more in classes, take 5% off the total tuition owed. Register for $350 or more in classes, take 10% off the total tuition owed. Registration discount is valid until January 9, 2012.
Tuition Assistance is available! To apply, fill out the Tuition Assistance form. You will be notified when tuition assistance is approved.
Tuition cannot be refunded after the first week of classes. In outstanding circumstances, requests for tuition refunds will be considered at the discretion of the Artistic Director.
Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Once a class is full, registration for that particular class will be closed. Early registration is highly recommended.
